Ancillary Task - CD Cover

For our CD cover I wanted to use Alfies image as he features in the music video and so he will become our star image motif. As I thought just having the star on the front cover, I felt I had to raise the bar and make it more interesting and unique. In the endI came up with the idea of having more than one Alfie (the star) in one photo. Having experience with photo editing software I felt I could easily achieve this. The next thing that we needed to think of was the location of the album cover, and we decided on a location featured in the music video. It was an underpass with graffiti and artwork all over the walls.
Front Cover
In order to have multiple Alfies in one shot I mounted a digital camera on a tripod and took three photos in the same possition but had Alfie move position. I would then take these three photos and layer them creating a seamless single photo. Once I had acheived this I placed the bands (The Nites) logo on the album to ensure people can see who the album belongs too. I then added the albums title in a similar font as the bands logo to ensure I stayed true to the bands identity.
Back Cover
For the back cover I wanted to have the same image but from behind at the other end of the tunnel, after going through the same process as the front cover I then added additional features such as a barcode, listing the song titles that feature on the album, then added copyright information, record label (fictional) and place of creation. All these features gave the album a truly authentic look.
