Types of Music videos

With the start of a new project we found it necessary to learn the basics. So we started two look at the types music videos.

The Three types we covered were:

• Performance Based
• Narrative Based
• Concept Based

Performance Based

Performance based music videos feature the artists performing the song, this rather simple form of music video is commonly used in the genre of rock. An example of a performance based music video would be Green Day's 'American Idiot'

Narrative Based

Narrative based music videos typically tell a story in relation to what the song is about. An example of a Narrative based music video would be Lady GaGa's Bad Romance.

Concept Based

Concept Based music videos, don't tell a story or show the band performing the music, it is instead a more clever and original music video than the traditional types. An example of a concept based music video would be Ok-Go's Here it goes again.
